Secret Invasion Episode 4

We open with the revelation that G’Iah has used the “Super Skrull” machine to give herself healing power meaning she didn’t die in the previous episode. Fury and Priscilla are having dinner in Paris 2012. They talk about the battle of New York and the formation of The Avengers. Gravik is boarding a plane with his henchmen one asks where G’Iah is and he says she was a mole and has been taken care of. They’re on their way to pin an international incident on the Russians. Rhodey and Priscilla have a meeting at church. She asks Rhodey what happened to Fury and he says he fired him. He reveals there’s a plan in place to kill Fury, Nick heard everything via earpiece. Priscilla says he’s exhausted enough and that he doesn’t need to be killed, Rhodey tells her to do it or he will.

G’Iah and Talos are talking on a bench. G’Iah tells him that he joined him because she’s truly WITH HIM now.  She wants to know the plan and Talos tells her he wants to take down Gravik and use that as leverage for the president to give the Skrulls amnesty. She asks him if he’s tired of hiding in human skin and he says she has to be reasonable. She calls him delusional and walks away.

Priscilla and Fury talk about what he heard at the church. Priscilla reveals that she’s a Skrull and tells Fury about the host she’s inhabited. She says as Priscilla was dying they became close and asked her to promise three things. To bury her at sea, be a good daughter, and never hurt Fury. They take out their guns and shoot past each other and Fury quips “I don’t know if we should get a divorce or renew our vows.” She asks if she’d love him as a Skrull and he says I guess we’ll never know.

Rhodey is revealed to be a Skrull, which isn’t shocking after his character has done a complete 180 since being on this show. As he walks into his hotel room Fury is waiting for him there and he says he’ll spill about the government agents who are Skrulls unless he gets his job back.  Rhodey plays Nick in the video of “Fury” killing Maria Hill. They share a drink and it’s revealed that he put a liquor tracker in it.

Rhodey meets the president on the tarmac and tells him he needs to project strength to the Russian people. As they’re on their way to the meeting a missell hits the president's motorcade. Gravik propels down from a helicopter and it’s an all-out war in the middle of the street. Bullets missells and cars everywhere. The president survived and Talos is trying to break him out of his overturned vehicle and is shot in the process. He’s turning back into his Skrull form when he finally breaks the window and Fury takes the president to another car. A policeman is helping Talos walk but it’s revealed to be Gravik and he stabs Talos in the chest, Fury shoots at him as he escapes on his motorcycle ending the episode.

While this is the shortest episode of Secret Invasion it has an action-packed conclusion with beautiful quiet scenes between the characters. Fury and Priscilla’s moment in their kitchen was a sad end to their relationship. That scene is only rivaled by the train scene between Talos and Fury. Is Talos actually dead though? Would Marvel do two fake deaths in concurrent episodes? They are known for their fake deaths so I wouldn’t be shocked, regardless of that I’m still excited to see next week’s episode.
