A few years back, there’s a chance you didn’t even know what “Art the Clown” was. Where most people learned was in 2022’s Terrifier 2, a low-budget, two hour long, ultraviolent slasher that ended up being a viral hit. What was just supposed to be a one-week event at the beginning of October stretched all throughout the month. Not to bring up the specific numbers, but it ended up being a huge success for its low budget, bringing in $15 million on a budget less than $250,000. There was a teaser for the next entry with a re-release of Terrifier 2 last year, which hinted at a Christmas theme, but now, we have our first actual trailer for the movie.

There aren't a bunch of plot details out there right now, but all we know is that Art the Clown is back from the dead and ready to go on another murdering spree throughout Miles County on Christmas Eve. Honestly, what else is there to know? If you saw Terrifier 2, it did lean into some more surreal and supernatural territory, but Damien Leone, who steers the whole franchise as writer, director, producer, and editor of all three films so far, has said that the third entry will be more grounded and compared it to the original Nightmare on Elm Street, where he compared the second film’s surreal tone to Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. It feels like Art will bring some Christmas cheer to the Halloween season.

Returning from the previous Terrifier entries are David Howard Thornton, Lauren LaVera (Law and Order: Organized Crime, the upcoming The Life of Chuck), Elliot Fullam, Samantha Scaffidi, and Chris Jericho. New cast members include Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive, Final Destination), Jason Patric (The Lost Boys, Speed 2: Cruise Control), Clint Howard (The Old Way, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds), Annie Lederman (The Long Dumb Road, Grand Theft Auto V), and horror icon Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead, Creepshow).

Terrifier 3 will hit theaters on October 11th, 2024.
