I recently had the pleasure of chatting with filmmaker Jay Silverman about his new film Camera, telling the tale of a young non-verbal boy named Oscar (played by Miguel Gabriel) who finds an unlikely friend and mentor in an old repairman named Eric (Beau Bridges). Through the friendship that develops and a mutual passion for photography (something that Jay knows a lot about given his lengthy career in the field), Oscar finds his voice and impacts the larger community.

In our nearly 30-minute chat, we discuss the inspired cast performances, Jay’s personal connections to the story, the importance of mentorship, and behind-the-scenes stories from production.

Check out the trailer for the film here, watch the interview below, and don’t miss Camera, available now via on demand or digital!
