She’s Back! Neve Campbell Returning For Kevin Williamson-Directed Scream VII - News Reelz
From Gaius Bolling
The Scream franchise just got a jolt of life after facing multiple setbacks with its seventh installment including Melissa Barrera being fired, Jenna Ortega not returning, and losing its director, Christopher Landon. Neve Campbell herself announced via Instagram that she's returning as Sidney Prescott and she's bringing an old friend with her.
Campbell posted an image of the script on her Instagram, which shows it's being written by Guy Busick. In addition to this, she also announced they the Untitled Scream VII will be directed by original Scream writer Kevin Williamson. Busick (Scream 2022 and Scream VI) is taking over screenwriting duties from James Vanderbilt, who will continue to produce Scream VII alongside his Project X Entertainment partners William Sherak and Paul Neinstein. Radio Silence is executive producing.
Scream first saw drama with its seventh installment when Melissa Barrera was let go because of comments she made on social media about the conflict between Israel and Hamas. This was followed by Jenna Ortega leaving the project due to scheduling reasons, although money was said to be the rumored reason for her departure. If you remember, Campbell sat out for Scream VI over a salary dispute with producer Spyglass Media Group but it looks like that was resolved.
