‘Juror #2’ Trailer: Nicholas Hoult Leads Clint Eastwood’s Potential Swan Song
From Ryan Cordaro
Throughout the decades of Hollywood, Clint Eastwood has been someone who’s stood out to me over the years. I do think of him more as a director than an actor, and while I haven’t seen a bunch of movies he’s been involved in, I feel like he’s earned the reputation he has in film history. At this point, I honestly don’t have much to say unless you’ve seen him in something like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. You know who he is, even if you’ve just seen his face. I’ve relatively enjoyed most of the movies he’s directed that I’ve seen, a lot of the more recent releases, but none of them have really stood out to me. Now, it feels like we could have another strong contender from Eastwood.
Juror #2 follows Justin Kemp, a family man who's called for jury duty for a high-profile murder trial. As he learns what the case is, he realizes a personal connection with the trial, and because of this, he’s caught in a moral dilemma that could sway the verdict of the trial. I’m not going to spoil the reason here, but it’s in the trailer below, which ended up sneaking up on me. I was really only aware of the name of the movie and that Nicholas Hoult is the lead, but I didn’t know that Eastwood was directing at all, let alone what it was about. If this does end up being Eastwood’s final movie, which is reportedly true, it feels like he’s going to go out with a bang.
Alongside Hoult (The Great, the upcoming Superman), Juror #2 stars Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, the upcoming Mickey 17), J. K. Simmons (Whiplash, the upcoming Red One), Chris Messina (Argo, I.S.S.), Zoey Deutch (Not Okay, Zombieland: Double Tap), Cedric Yarbrough (Reno 911!, Batman: Caped Crusader), Gabriel Basso (The Strangers: Chapter 1, Hillbilly Elegy), Francesca Eastwood (Old, Twin Peaks: The Return), and Kiefer Sutherland (24, They Cloned Tyrone).
Warner Bros. will release Juror #2 in theaters as a limited release on November 1st, 2024. I couldn’t find anything about a wide release, but I hope that’s in the cards.
