ICYMI: ‘Spider-Man 4’ Finds Its Director - News Reelz

From Gaius Bolling

The fourth Sony Pictures/MCU Spider-Man movie has found its director as it was recently announced that Destin Daniel Cretton is in the final stages of his deal to direct Spider-Man 4.

Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are back to pen the script while Marvel head Kevin Feige and former Sony head Amy Pascal are producing. More surprising news is that this film seems to be on the fast track and is expected to start filming early next year.

Cretton is no stranger to the Marvel fold. The direct helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which was met with solid reviews and a big box office haul. He was on board to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty but dropped out last November amid that project’s changing production schedule and evolution stemming from Jonathan Majors’ assault trial. Despite leaving that film, Marvel has been wanting him on another project.

Cretton remains attached to direct a live-action adaptation of Naruto, as well as a sequel to Shang-Chi, but it's unclear when those will happen with Spider-Man 4 on his list of duties now.
