Academy Award Nominee…Jack Black?

Super Mario Brothers was not a fairly respected movie but was beloved by families and video game loving adults alike and this could lead to it possibly grabbing a Best Animated Film nomination on sheer popularity alone.

Jack Black has never been a fairly respected actor as he is usually a comedian that always acts silly, but he once in a while turns that silliness into a charming performance. Black was in the Super Mario Brothers movie and has been receiving accolades for his vocal performance, but that will definitely not lead to a nomination, for his performance at least. However, this could be the chance for Jack Black to receive a nomination for his writing of the amazingly funny song of “Peaches.”

The Original Song branch of the Academy rarely does things that are fun and often go for the more boring routes and most conventional picks but once in a while they nominate “Blame Canada” from South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut and “Husavik” from “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story for Fire Saga. But those are few and far between and never lead to a win.

It would make sense that Jack Black’s first Oscar nomination would come from an Original song instead of from a performance as he has always made goofy comedic music that has been beloved and Black performing the song at the Oscars would easily be the highlight of the ceremony.

That should not be the only reason for a song to win, but it does help the reasoning and the song should also be nominated because of its cultural significance in how much it was loved by the internet community and most importantly it's a hilarious and catchy bop that describes the obsession of the villainous character.

It should be unequivocally stated that is the longest of longshots. But ever since it was announced that it can even qualify for the category, it's difficult to imagine it being snubbed.
