‘The Gentlemen’: First Teaser For Guy Ritchie’s Spinoff Series Of His Own Film - Trailer

There are only a couple of directors that I’d consider watching just based on their name alone, and I came to terms recently that Guy Ritchie might be close to joining that exclusive club. He’s been pretty consistent over the years, with last year’s The Covenant flying under the radar and I think well deserving of some year-end praise. While I do think that the Matthew McConaughey-starring The Gentlemen is fine enough, I really never expected a full-on spinoff series of it.

There’s not too much out there in terms of the story for this series just yet, but The Gentlemen follows Eddie Halstead, a young man who inherits a large estate from his father. What moves the plot along, though, is that this land ends up being swallowed into Mickey Pearson’s marijuana empire. Pearson is actually portrayed by McConaughey in the original film, so I wouldn’t rule out an appearance at some point. That’s more of a prediction than anything, but I can dream.

The ensemble cast for The Gentlemen includes Theo James (The White Lotus, the Divergent franchise), Kaya Scodelario (Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile), Daniel Ings (The Marvels, Black Mirror), Joely Richardson (Color Out of Space, Nip/Tuck), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Boys), Peter Serafinowicz (Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Guardians of the Galaxy), Vinnie Jones (X-Men: The Last Stand, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Max Beesley (Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, The Outsider), and Ray Winstone (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, the upcoming Damsel). Unlike a lot of spinoffs in this vein, Ritchie is heavily involved in the show, with being credited as the creator, as well as having a story credit. Ritchie will also direct at least two episodes of the series too.

The first season of The Gentlemen hits Netflix this March.
