‘Sasquatch Sunset’: Jesse Eisenberg & Riley Keough Become A Happy, Hairy Family - Trailer

I love a good absurdist comedy, even if it’s some of the strangest ideas out there. I think the biggest example of what I think could be an absurdist comedy in recent memory could be Ari Aster’s Beau Is Afraid. Is that a stretch? It’s utterly ridiculous, but it’s also incredibly funny. I personally think it’s one of the best movies of last year and cemented Aster as someone that I’d watch anything his name’s attached to, and we now have what that next project is, only as a producer, though.

Sasquatch Sunset takes place in the misty forests of somewhere in North America, following a *very* detailed year in the life of a family of Sasquatches, who find themselves on a collision course with the ever-changing world around them. Aster himself is a producer on this as a part of his Square Peg banner, but where I think it gets interesting is the writer and directing team. Nathan & David Zellner are behind the camera, with David writing and Nathan in front of the camera as well. If you don’t know those names right off the bat, they were a huge driving force behind The Curse, the miniseries from last year that starred Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone, directing multiple episodes of the series.

Sasquatch Sunset stars Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & The Six, Mad Max: Fury Road), Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, the upcoming A Real Pain), Christophe Zajac-Denek (Twin Peaks: The Return, Oz the Great and Powerful), and Nathan Zellner.

Sasquatch Sunset is set for a limited release in theaters on April 12th, 2024, then expanding a week later.
