The third episode opens with Gravik showing off the machine that will inevitably create the “Super Skrulls” to the council of world leaders. He asks them if they’ll join him in the extinction of the human race. Each Skrull is going to be able to not only shape-shift but change powers. We see Gravik sending three Skrulls on a mission, but we don’t know what exactly they’re doing yet.

Fury enters a diner in NYC in 1998 where he meets Varra, it seems to be where their relationship first blossomed. Fury and Varra are talking in the kitchen and says he wants revenge. Fury asks his wife in an accusatory tone if she’s talked to Gravik while he was gone and she says she hasn’t. She tells him he should be a little more grateful that she stuck around post-blip just to watch him leave again. Gravik and G’Iah are talking about the Skrull that was captured and interrogated. Based on Gravik’s tone you can tell he’s losing trust in G’Iah.

Gravik meets Talos at an art museum, Talos tells him to stop killing innocent people, Gravik says he’ll kill him right now while his daughter waits in the car. He lets Talos know he’s surrounded by having everyone in the cafe shapeshift into Gravik. Talos reminds him not to underestimate him as Gravik says something sly about his daughter he stabs him in the hand. Gravik heals immediately and leaves. It’s revealed that G’Iah slipped her father a burner phone to give him intel.

Talos meets Fury at a pub and Talos demands an apology, Fury obliges. They leave and he calls Sonya telling her that Neptune is going to launch the UN delegation. Sonya tells him that Bib Fairbanks is the one who’s going to launch the attack so they go to his home. It took no interrogation at all as Bob had the coordinates for the attack on his computer when they walked in. They need the code to call off the strike and Boh isn’t giving it up. Bob says G’Iah’s a spineless traitor and Talos shoots him dead. Talos calls G’Iah for the code and gives it to him, aborting the launch.

G’Iah is in a hurry to leave the compound and crashes her motorcycle Gravik tells her that failing the strike wasn’t as important as finding the traitor and shoots her in the middle of the street.

Varra opens a safety deposit box that has a gun inside she gets a call and she tells the person on the other line that she needs to speak to Gravik as the episode concludes. This episode was the weakest of the three but the reveals in it were substantial. How involved is Fury’s wife in this operation? Is G’Iah actually dead? It’s Marvel so probably not but it’s fun to act like she is until next week. After the “failed” nuke lunch how will Gravik get the humans to turn on each other? With three episodes left Secret Invasion is going to be on a sprint to the finish line and I’m intrigued to see how everything tightens up going forward.

Secret Invasion is new every Wednesday on Disney+.
