The second episode opens in 1995 with a brief but helpful recap of the events of Captain Marvel. We see Fury with Talos G’Iah and Soren, with a voiceover saying Earth isn’t safe for them. Next, we’re in London in 1997 where it’s revealed that Fury met Gravik as a kid. Gravik’s parents were killed fighting the Kree and he piloted his own ship to escape from behind enemy lines to safety. Gravik wanted to join Fury but Fury was reluctant because of his age. Talos then gives a speech to the Skrulls gathered there that he trusts Fury wholeheartedly. Fury then tells them that if they help him protect Earth he and Carol Danvers will find them a new home. All the Skrulls step forward to pledge their loyalty to Fury. 

We’re back at the site of the bombing from last week's conclusion. Fury and another American appear to be detained while Gravik and G’Iah escape without being noticed. Turns out it was Talos ushering Fury to his escape as well. They’re on a train and Fury tells him about the times he’d go on long train rides with his mom to Detroit as a kid. To kill time they'd play a game called Tell Me Something I Don’t Know. Fury asks him about the destruction of Skrullos. Talos tells Fury that all the Skrulls who were still alive after their world’s destruction are now on Earth. Millions of Skrulls are walking amongst us all over the world. Fury’s upset that Talos lied to him but Talos had no choice. He could’ve sent the call for his people to come to earth or live knowing they got annihilated.  Tensions are rising between the two they argue over Fury disappearing for years while Fury tells Talos that there isn’t enough tolerance for a new species on Earth. Fury tells him to get off the train. 

Fury touches down in London to witness Maria Hill’s body being ushered into a US military plane. Her mother wants answers from Fury and he tells her everything. She says “So you're the reason my daughter is coming back in a box?” She tells him that Maria would’ve followed him to hell and back, she wants Fury to make sure she didn’t die for nothing. 

An American is being blamed for the bombing in Russia as he runs an Americans Against Russia website. Gravik and G’Iah are driving and she asks if he knew Fury would be there and he says he didn’t. They’re on their way to a council dinner in which world leaders and politicians (who are Skrulls) are discussing Gravik’s action in which two thousand people died. They want to levy a punishment but he reminds them that the humans have done nothing to help them. The council nominates Gravik to be their general, giving him total autonomy in the war against the humans for Earth. Shirley is the only leader that didn’t vote for Gravik, she immediately calls Talos to tell him what’s happened and he asks to set up a meeting in a public place with the new Skrull General. 

Rhodey is being interrogated by the UN about Fury and Hill’s presence during the bombing. The world leaders are insulted that the President didn’t show up for questioning, Rhodey brushes off their allegations and gets a call from Fury telling him that they need to meet. Rhodes grills Fury about the attack, Fury warns Rhodes about the Skrulls and Rhodes looks at him like he’s crazy. Fury pleads with Rhodes to help him out and Rhodes wants no part of it. Rhodes gets him a car to take him to the airport because he’s been officially relieved of his duties. 

The leader of MI:13, Sonya Flasworth interrupts a Russian interrogation, no one’s been able to get the detainee to speak, but she immediately cuts off one of his fingers. She injects him with a painful serum that makes him talk. He tells her Gravik is building a machine to make the Skrulls stronger and a man named Dalton is helping him. Gravik infiltrates the warehouse and begins killing all the men who were interrogating the detainee. Sonya escapes underground while Gravik takes the detainee back to base. Their base has a police presence all over so they drive deep into the forest where Gravik has a man execute the detainee. 

Fury goes home to his wife but before he walks in she’s chopping cucumbers in SKRULL FORM. She changes back once Fury walks in the door before he can realize. He puts on his ring and they embrace as the episode ends. 

Another solid entry into this series with (sadly) only 4 episodes to go. How will Fury get back into the war to stop Gravik after Rhodey seemingly fires him? How strong will the Skrulls be once Gravik gets his machine working? How will Talos and Fury reconcile? Now HIS WIFE is a Skrull!! So many possibilities here and I can’t wait to see what comes next.
