‘John Wick’ Spin-Off ‘Ballerina’ Moves To 2025 As ‘The Crow’ Remake Shifts To 2024 - News Reelz
From Gaius Bolling
Major release date changes coming in. It has just been announced that Lionsgate‘s John Wick spin-off Ballerina starring Ana de Armas will be delayed a year from June 7, 2024 to June 6, 2025. Debuting in its place will be Rupert Sanders’ reboot of The Crow.
The reason for Ballerina move comes down to Chad Stahelski inking a new deal with Lionsgate to oversee the John Wick franchise. He’s currently working with Ballerina director Len Wiseman on additional action sequences for the movie to amp up the spin-off a bit more.
The Crow reboot sees Bill Skarsgård taking on the iconic role once played by the late Brandon Lee. Per the film's synopsis, "Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right." Based on the graphic novel by James O’Barr, the film also stars Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Sami Bouajila, and Jordan Bolger.
The upside is that Ballerina is currently opening alone on the new date which bodes well since advanced tracking for the film was already seeing major gains.
