Ahsoka is the former Jedi apprentice to Anakin Skywalker who was introduced in the animated series “Clone Wars''. Ahsoka left the Jedi Order after being framed for bombing the Jedi temple, she returned later on during Rebels and joined the ghost crew for a brief time where she meets Ezra. Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn vanish at the end of Rebels, and Ahsoka and Sabine team up to look for them.

Ashoka then appeared in Mandalorian season two played by the great Rosario Dawson where she also is looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn. She also pops up briefly in the Book of Boba Fett to chat with Luke Skywalker. Ahsoka is shaping up to be a live-action continuation of Rebel's with Mary Elizabeth Winstead playing Hera, Natasha Bordizzo playing Sabine, Eman Esfandi playing Ezra, and Lars Mikkelsen is back as Thrawn after voicing the character in Rebels.

Baylon Skoll played by the great Ray Stevenson (RIP) is the presumptive big bag of the season. He was a Jedi who survived Order 66. Ahsoka is set during Mando season 3 which is probably thirty years after Order 66 happened. Baylon has to have been an adult during the purge and not a Youngling given his age. He’s become a mercenary in the years since and has taken on an apprentice named Shin Hati. They both use orange lightsabers in the trailer and Dave Filoni said there’s a meaning behind that. In one of the trailers, Skoll stabs an officer and says “I’m no Jedi.”

The trailers set this up to look like Ahsoka and Skoll have the same goal. We see Ahsoka in a ruinous environment searching for something, and Skoll could be on the hunt too. We see him and Shin searching a rock environment with eight pillars. Later on in the trailer a map is projected onto it and Ahsoka and Skoll battle there. This map has to be the MacGuffin of this season, where it leads to who could be there and the ramifications of that are very exciting. They are both looking for Thrawn Skoll says finding him will give him power.

Ahsoka and Sabine share a moment where Sabine says “I bet your master finds you difficult at times.” Ahsoka responds with “Anakin never got to finish my training. I walked away from him.” Does Ahsoka feel guilty for that? It’s revealed that Ahsoka is training Sabine as well. We also see Shin and Sabine duel a little in the trailers a little apprentice vs apprentice action.

I can’t wait for this show, Ahsoka is such a rich character that seeing her stories from Clone Wars and Rebels be brought to life is going to be an amazing watch. Whether it’s a cameo or he has a big role, seeing Hayden Christensen back as Anakin is going to be a huge moment. These Star Wars shows have had a ton of cameos throughout but one from Christensen will be extra special given how the fans have done a complete 180 on him since the prequels. With all of the intrigue with Thrawn, what Skoll and Ahsoka want from him, and where these maps could lead, it’s shaping up to be an enthralling watch from start to finish.

Ahsoka premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023.
