‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Trailer: Death Finally Gets Back Its Sense of Humor

It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve gotten one of these kinds of horror movies. One that almost treats death like a game itself, like its destiny or something along those lines. That’s what I’ve always liked about the Final Destination movies. They’re pretty outlandish in how we see the different characters die and why it’s them, but they’re taken seriously in the movie and while the circumstances on how a character would die would be funny, the movie just plays it straight, almost like Death is a character in a murder mystery. Now, we finally have a new Final Destination movie releasing.
Not much is known about the plot of the newest Final Destination movie, Bloodlines. It’s the first entry since Final Destination 5 in 2011, which is the best one, in my opinion. I didn’t know the crew behind this, but Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein directed the project, with Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor writing the script. Both Busick and Taylor have story credit as well, alongside Jon Watts of all people. Also, I think it’s funny that a more comedic Final Destination-adjacent movie, Oz Perkins’s The Monkey, is coming out in just a few weeks. I don’t think there’s a way that they could’ve planned that, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few comparisons already online. Either way, I’m glad that Final Destination is coming back and I hope this one sticks the landing.
Bloodlines stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana (The Flash, The Friendship Game), Teo Briones (Chucky, Wind River), Richard Harmon (The 100, The Age of Adaline), Owen Patrick Joyner (Julie and the Phantoms, The Thundermans), Rya Kihlstedt (Deep Impact, Superman & Lois), Anna Lore (Gotham Knights, They/Them), and Brec Bassinger (Stargirl, Bella and the Bulldogs). The late Tony Todd, who played William Bludworth in four of the last five movies, will reprise his role one last time.
Warner Bros. will be releasing Final Destination: Bloodlines in theaters on May 16th, 2025.
