Auli’i Cravalho Confirms ‘Moana 2’ Return - News Reelz
From Joe Peltzer
We already knew that Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced the character of Moana in the hit 2016 Disney Animation film of the same name, would not be reprising her role in the upcoming live-action version. However, when Bob Iger recently dropped news of Moana 2 hitting theaters this Thanksgiving, the question arose: would the young actress return to voice the character in the sequel?
Today, Cravalho herself (who recently starred in the new Mean Girls adaptation) confirmed her involvement via Instagram with a post captioned: “We’re sailing WAY beyond the reef this November… ❤️🌀🐚 #Moana2.” Deadline previously reported that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was in talks to return as the voice of Maui, which seems like a sure bet now.
The surprise feature film is actually a repurposed Disney+ series that execs are said to be so high on, they wanted it in theaters. The original Moana grossed $687.2 million worldwide.
