The finale of Ahsoka opens with Thrawn and Morgan getting ready for their escape. She says there is little the Jedi can do to stop us now. Thrawn says even he has fallen victim to the heroics of a single Jedi. He thanks the Great Mothers for their alliance and they want to give Morgan a parting gift. They let her join the Great Mothers and they give her a blade and send her on her way.

Ezra is on his ship building a lightsaber as he talks to Huyang. He tells him that the bond between master and apprentice is as important as any. Sabine overhears and you can see she’s reflecting on her relationship with Ahsoka. Huyang tells Ezra about Ahsoka and Sabine, he says Ahsoka believed Sabine was becoming a Jedi for the wrong reasons. Sabine then finds Ahsoka and says sorry and Ahsoka says she knows. They banter a bit as they’re pursuing Thrawn and trying to prevent his escape.

Two ships fly towards them and begin firing. They loop around the fire once more and ground their ship. News of the attack makes its way back to Thrawn and he says to prepare a ground assault. Huyang is preparing the ship while Sabine Ezra and Ahsoka make their way to Thrawn on foot. They find the ship and Thrawn knows how close they are and says to rain hellfire upon them. Blasters from beneath the ship fire on them as they storm the entrance. The Jedi use the force to open the door and make their way on the ship. Stormtroopers open fire on them and (surprise) they do no damage to them whatsoever. The stormtroopers are somehow resurrected just to be taken out again.

Morgan tells Thrawn that they’re ready to depart and Thrawn tells her that they can’t leave with the Jedi on the ship. They finally make their way to Morgan and she’s waiting there with the blade the Great Mothers gave her. They duel while Sabine and Ezra pursue Thrawn. They’re stopped by a couple of troopers who toss them around a bit but are inevitably taken out after using the force to regain their lightsabers. They have to jump from the helipad to the ship as it’s taking off and Ezra is hesitant but Sabine convinces him to jump, he’s a bit short on the landing but she uses the force to make up for it. Sabine stays behind to help Ahsoka fight off the Troopers and Morgan, and Ahsoka finally kills Morgan. Huyang swoops in to save Ahsoka and Sabine as the helipad collapses. They’re back on the run chasing after Thrawn’s ship. Thrawn abruptly makes the jump to lightspeed leaving Ahsoka and Sabine behind.

They make their way back to base without Ezra. We then get a couple of weird cuts to Baylan and Shin looking ominously into the distance that led to absolutely nothing. A ship lands at Hera’s base as a Trooper makes his way off the ship; it's revealed to be Ezra and he says I’m home. Ahsoka tells Sabine that Ezra is where he needs to be but so are we. Anakin’s force ghost looks on as the episode ends.

An action-packed finale that makes Ahsoka one of the best Star Wars projects to date. I loved that the good guys lost, but they completed their mission. It made the finale a tad unpredictable. The performances here from Rosario Dawson and Natasha Bordizzo in particular were fantastic. They were the heart of this season and I loved watching their relationship develop. It was a perfect touch to see Anakin looking on, Ahsoka’s apprentice knowing that this season was about Sabine and Ahsoka’s relationship. It was a fitting way to end the season. I can’t wait to see Thrawn, Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine in season two.

All episodes of Ahsoka are now streaming on Disney+.
