The sixth episode of Ahsoka opens with the purgills transporting Ahsoka through hyperspace. Ahsoka is trying to understand why Sabine went with Baylan willingly. Huyang says the force can’t tell you why things happen.

Then we see Sabine aboard Baylan’s ship where she’s being held captive. She tells him you promised me I’d see Ezra again and Baylan blows her off. As they reach their destination Baylan says Sabine’s desire to find Ezra blinds her and that she can still be of some use to them. They approach the great mothers, they say you came as Thrawn promised and that he’s coming. Sabine freaks out and starts asking where Ezra is but the cloaked people take her. Baylan tells Shin that this land is one of Jedi folktales with a rich history. Shin asks about the power to have an alliance with Thrawn. Baylan says that kind of power is fleeting and here lies the beginning of something greater.

Sabine is trying to escape using the force and hears a ship fly overhead. A ship full of stormtroopers opens and they all start chanting Thrawn as we finally see him for the first time this season. Thrawn says what was once a dream is now a reality for our enemies. The great mothers tell Thrawn that Baylan brought a prisoner. Thrawn asks why and Baylan says she’d be useful, after he tells Thrawn the prisoner is Sabine he agrees. They bring Sabine out to meet Thrawn. She immediately asks about Ezra and Thrawn taunts her. He says since she helped his cause he’ll help hers and give her Ezra’s last known location. Thrawn tells her she could be dead, Sabine quips if you survived I’m sure he’s just fine. Thrawn gives her a Howler and weapons as he sends her on her way. Thrawn tells Baylan that she gave Sabine a head start at finding Ezra but they are to follow her at their own pace. Sabine is shot off her Howler, which takes off immediately leaving her stranded and she’s attacked. She makes quick work of them and realizes her map to find Ezra is destroyed.

Thrawn says his primary objective is to escape this galaxy and it doesn’t matter if Ezra, Sabine Baylan, and Shin are left there. Sabine’s Howler comes back and she says it abandoned her and she was saddened by that. The Howler begins sniffing around and Sabine lets it guide her. They stumble upon a Noti who just so happens to know Ezra. It recognizes Sabine’s Jedi logo on her shirt and they say his name repeatedly. Baylan and Shin are looking for Sabine and say something is calling to him. The Notis are leading Sabine to their home base and sure enough Ezra is there full beard and all. He tells her it took you long enough. She said you never told anyone where you were going and he asked if his plan worked and she said yes as they hugged. Ezra wants to know how she found him and he says let’s not worry about that now I just want to be happy that I found you.

The great mothers tell Thrawn and Morgan that Ahsoka is approaching and he tells Morgan that they need to be destroyed. He tells the great mothers to use their dark magic on them as the episode ends. This was another great episode. We finally got to see Thrawn and Ezra and those interactions didn’t disappoint. It’s a bummer that we only have two episodes left to see where things go with them but it’s intriguing nonetheless. On the surface, having an episode in the Ahsoka series with hardly any Ahsoka may seem like a mistake. However, with Sabine, Thrawn, Ezra, and Baylan plenty was happening despite her absence.

New episodes of Ahsoka debut on Disney+ every Tuesday night.
