Didn’t have this in my bingo card, but here we are! It appears that Jack Black and Paul Rudd are circling a new Anaconda movie at Sony Pictures. The deal isn’t officially done just yet, but the two are in talks to possibly head to the jungle with the help of writers Tom Gormican and Kevin Ettin, both of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, with the former possibly directing.

The original film is true guilty pleasure fun. Released in 1997, the film starred Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Owen Wilson and Ice Cube and followed a film crew that is taken hostage by an insane hunter who forces them along on his quest to capture the world’s largest and deadliest snake, an anaconda. The movie turned into a hit, grossing $145M globally including $65M domestically. It was also an early hit for Lopez, who was coming off her star making turn in Selena.

According to reports, this new take is not set to be a remake and will be more of a comedy. Not surprising given the two stars that are attached.
