This could be very good if done right. It has been announced that a Britney Spears biopic is moving forward at Universal Pictures from Wicked director, Jon M. Chu.

The film will be based on Spears' best-selling memoir, “The Woman in Me”, with Universal Pictures winning the rights to turn the memoir into a film after a competitive bidding process. Spears herself shared "secret news" dropping on her X page by saying, "Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with Marc Platt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned."

Jon M. Chu is directing, who is already working with Universal Pictures on Wicked Part 1 and Part 2. The memoir should prove to be a big jumping off point for a movie with the book focusing on Spears’ journey to stardom, the publicized challenges she faced, and her endeavors to break free from a longstanding conservatorship that once controlled her life.

Britney Spears has sold over 150 million records worldwide, making her one of the world’s best-selling music artists. She has earned numerous awards and accolades, including a Grammy Award, 15 Guinness world records, six MTV Video Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards (including the Millennium Award), the inaugural Radio Disney Icon Award, not to mention she has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
