She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 6 Recap: Wedding Bells

Home » She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 6 Recap: Wedding Bells

Each week, Darren from @darrenmoviereviews will be recapping the most recent episode(s) of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and the show’s overall connection to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Who doesn’t love going to a wedding alone! This week’s episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law takes a break to give Jen time to go to a wedding on a Thursday while Nikki and Mallory team up for the firm’s next superpowered client.

We are now two thirds of the way through She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and the overall direction of the show is still a mystery. Titania seems to be a major antagonist for the series, but her encounters with Jen seem to be very isolated rather than an overarching story of the series. We also have a mysterious group of individuals tracking Jen and trying to get She-Hulk’s blood. But with only three episodes left, it feels like we are heading towards another rushed Marvel finale that is going to have to explain who this group is, what their goal is, all while giving us our generic Marvel battle to close out the season.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is not bad by any standards, it’s enjoyable enough, but it has yet to justify its purpose in the MCU other than introducing She-Hulk. And frankly, both She-Hulk and Tatiana Maslany deserve a better show for their MCU debut than what they have been given so far. The cast of the show is great, and they all appear to be having a ton of fun on this show, but the writing could be tighter to deliver a more story driven series rather than a series of what feels like a string of one off episodes.

And into spoiler territory we go. If you have not seen this week’s episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, stop reading now. If you have, keep on reading to find out what we learnt on this week’s episode…

Jen is off to a wedding of a friend from high school, who has asked her to be a bridesmaid. Breaking the fourth wall, Jen tells the audience that this is an inconveniently timed wedding that is going to delay the overall story of the season by an episode. Arriving at the wedding, Jen immediately captures the attention of the wedding party as she arrives as She-Hulk. However, her friend makes Jen promise that she won’t show up to the wedding as She-Hulk to not distract from her big day.

With Jen away, Nikki is aiding Mallory with their newest case: Mr. Immortal’s multiple divorces. Mr. Immortal has been faking death for years to end his marriages, rather than having an honest conversation with his wives. During their meeting, Nikki and Mallory begin judging Mr. Immortal, calling out his cowardice. Annoyed at this as he believes his lawyers should not judge him, Mr. Immortal tosses a chair out the window and jumps to his death. But being immortal, he merely stands up and walks away unharmed despite having jumped out of a skyscraper.

Back at the wedding, Jen is catching up with the bride. All the bride wants to know is if Jen is dating anyone, but Jen informs her friend that she is still single. Though her friend promises Jen that she will find someone, before being pulled away for another conversation. At that moment, Titania shows up at the wedding, and Jen asks her what she is doing there. Turns out Titania is dating one of the groom’s friends and was invited as a plus one to the wedding. Jen accuses Titania of weaseling her way into the wedding just to mess with her, but the bride shows up and expresses her excitement that Titania was able to be there for her big day.

Frustrated with Titania showing up, Jen heads outside for some fresh air. However, she is approached by a friend of the groom’s, Josh, who begins flirting with her. The two of them are hitting it off, but the bride shows up and asks Jen to help clean up the venue as the staff are quitting because of how she is treating them. The bride then pulls Josh inside, leaving Jen alone outside.

Nikki and Mallory have assembled all of Mr. Immortal’s ex-wives to try to settle their divorces all at once. The ex-wives are all going through what they are owed. Mr. Immortal thinks it’s ludacris, but Mallory tells him that he is lucky that he is not facing criminal charges for what he has done given that he has forged multiple fake ids. Mallory tells him that it is going to cost him, but that she will get him the best possible deal to put his ex-wives behind him.

It’s now the day of the wedding, and Jen is assigned with the task of ironing all the groomsmens’ shirts as they wrinkled them playing Mario Kart. But before she can iron them, she meets the groomsmen she will be walking down the aisle with: Jonathan, an incredibly old dog who can’t keep his tongue in his mouth.

Nikki is making progress on the settlement of Mr. Immortal’s divorces. While the women won’t take an even split of the money Mr. Immortal offered them, Nikki manages to find a solution that gets every ex-wife what she wants. Even if Mr. Immortal is not happy with the amount of eye contact he has to give his ex-wives while apologizing to them.

The wedding ceremony is over, and Jen is drunk dialing Bruce. Luckily, Josh finds her and they begin talking about Jen. Jen tells Josh that she wants to turn into She-Hulk for him, because She-Hulk is pretty awesome. But Josh lets her in on a secret: he thinks that Jen is pretty great too. However, Jen begins to throw up due to the amount of alcohol she has, causing her to run outside.

Outside the party venue while throwing up, Titania finds her and punches her, sending her flying across the patio. Titania then admits to coming to the wedding for the sole purpose to destroy Jen publicly. To do this though, Titania must humiliate Jen as She-Hulk and demands that Jen turns into She-Hulk. While Jen fails to turn into She-Hulk on her first attempt, she does and she and Titania begin fighting. However, during the fight, Titania slips and smacks her face on the floor, breaking her teeth. Trying to hide her hideous smile full of broken teeth, Titania runs out of the wedding, while stealing the wedding cake. After that, the bride confronts Jen as She-Hulk and begins freaking out in excitement because She-Hulk is at her wedding.

After successfully settling Mr. Immortal’s divorce, Nikki and Mallory are enjoying a drink together. Mallory begins sharing some personal information with Nikki: that she has been married for eleven years and has a son, while they check out the website “Intelligencia” which has a video of Mr. Immortal trying to kill himself to avoid speaking to one of his wives. However, while on the website they notice that there are lots of posts about people wanting to kill She-Hulk. Nikki wants to tell Jen, but Mallory says to not brother Jen and to let her live her life. But…Nikki phones Jen and leaves her a message explaining it all.

However, Jen doesn’t answer Nikki’s call as she is enjoying a late night snack with Josh. Though, she is being tracked by a group of scientists, who are ready to enact the next part of their plan.

Again, there is no credit scene in this week’s episode. Though there are two big Marvel easter eggs. The first one is the website “Intelligencia”. In the comics, Intelligencia is the name of a group of some of the best and most sinister individuals. It’s a possible hint of who the larger villain of the series could be, as their identity has not yet been revealed. Members of Intelligencia in the comics have included M.O.D.O.K. and The Leader, who are both confirmed to appear in upcoming Marvel films: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum-mania and Captain America: New World Order, respectively. This could be one of the elements of She-Hulk that is setting up future films in the MCU, because aside from the Daredevil tease, this series seems to be pretty self-contained so far.

The other easter egg is the name of Mr. Immortal’s first wife: Baroness Cromwell. It is most likely that this is Lily Cromwell, who is also known as Baroness Blood in the comics. Baroness Blood has ties to Dracula in the comics, who is rumoured to be the villain in the upcoming Blade film starring Mahershala Ali. While this easter egg is more likely a fun coincidence, it is possible that this is a hint of what characters and story we could be seeing in the upcoming Blade film.

What is the master plan involving She-Hulk? Who is behind Intelligencia? And when will Daredevil show up? Check back next week for the next She-Hulk: Attorney at Law recap to find out if we learn any of these answers as the next adventure in the MCU unfolds!
