Cate Blanchett has had one of the most illustrious and promising careers of the modern female actress. She is beloved in the community and consistently delivers fine performances in a variety of films. She has effortlessly won two Oscars in her career, but the big question is: Can she do it again?
Blanchett was very close to winning her first Oscar for Elizabeth in 1998 where she was getting quite a bit of fame as an actress who will not shy away from a performance that will garner both attention and accolades.
Blanchett’s first Oscar came for 2004’s The Aviator with her showy and fun performance as Katherine Hepburn where she was criticized as giving more of an impression and yet its still a crowd pleasing performance and gave her the first Oscar and put her on the map.
Her second Oscar came just as easy in 2013’s Blue Jasmine where she absolutely ran the table with no one else even close to in the running. It was a deserved Oscar and with so much career ahead of her there is no doubt she can grab another Oscar win.
Now Blanchett is starring in Todd Field’s new film Tar, where in the trailer she is playing a distinct role with what seems like great passion. Todd Field has been known to help many actors receive nominations. Kate Winslet and Jackie Earle Haley were nominated for Little Children and Tom Wilkinson, Sissy Spacek, and Marisa Tomei were nominated for In the Bedroom.
It might be too early to determine right now who will win, but nothing seems to stand in Blanchett’s way once again.
