The upcoming DC Blue Beetle movie at Warner Bros. is working on rounding out the cast. Deadline brings word that Harvey Guillèn (What We Do In The Shadows) is in talks for a “key” role in the film opposite star Xolo Maridueña, though no details are available. Bruna Marquezine has also been cast as Penny, the film’s love interest, while Belissa Escobedo will also star in an undisclosed role. Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) is set to direct. The film will follow the third iteration of Blue Beetle, Latino youngster Jaime Reyes, who discovers a scarab on his way home from school that ultimately attaches to him and gives him an armor that allows him to create weapons and wings, as well as run fast and wield great strength. Originally slated for HBO Max, Blue Beetle will now hit theaters on August 18th, 2023.
