After turns in both Euphoria and The White Lotus, Sydney Sweeney is heading to Sony’s corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and joining the upcoming Madame Web film in an undisclosed role, per Deadline. The project found its star back in February in Dakota Johnson (The Lost Daugher). Johnson will star as the titular character, but there is some confusion there as the comics depict the character as an ailing elderly woman connected to a web-like life support system, never fighting any villains. Deadline notes that their sources say this could become something else entirely. S.J. Clarkson, who directed episodes of The Defenders and Jessica Jones, is set to help from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the scribes behind the upcoming Morbius film.
