The long-expected Madame Web movie has found its star in Dakota Johnson (The Lost Daugher), recent Sundance Film Festival double threat with AM I OK? and Cha Cha Real Smooth. Johnson will star as the titular character, but there is some confusion there as the comics depict the character as an ailing elderly woman connected to a web-like life support system, never fighting any villains. Deadline notes that their sources say this could become something else entirely. S.J. Clarkson, who directed episodes of The Defenders and Jessica Jones, is set to help from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the scribes behind the upcoming Morbius film.
