Review: Secret Agent Dingledorf And His Trusty Dog Splat

SECRET AGENT DINGLEDORF AND HIS TRUSTY DOG SPLAT: THE CASE OF THE GIGGLING GEEKS (2021)

A good-hearted, simple family film with key themes of self-worth and friendship, Secret Agent Dingledorf and His Trusty Dog Splat is simple, accessible, and perfect for kids of all ages.

Bernie Dingledorf (Zackary Arthur) is tapped as a secret agent and, together with his friends, must stop Dr. Chuckles from sending the world into an uncontrollable fit of laughter. The film, based on a series of children’s books, is a genuine and pure family-friendly film that doesn’t do much to break the mold of similar projects, but will likely be welcomed viewing for parents and their kids. While much of the film is filled with G-rated fodder, the performances from the kids are just a lot of fun, especially from lead Arthur. The veteran actors, such as Paul Johansson, really take a back seat here as the kids take center stage.

This is certainly not a film for all ages; it certainly was not made for me. However, there is a charm to Secret Agent Dingledorf and its good intent, mixed with goofy jokes and physical comedy, that will be appealing for kids and should give life to a potential series. Warmhearted family fare like this is not all that common today, but Secret Agent Dingledorf is on the scene to remind us of what we are missing.

Secret Agent Dingledorf and His Trusty Dog Splat will be available on VOD on October 15th, 2021.
