‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ Gets Title, Release Date

The long-delayed third installment in Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts series is now titled Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The film will also now open on April 15th, 2022, up two months from its original slot, only in theaters. David Yates is once again directing as the villainous Grindewald will now be played by Mads Mikkelsen, who replaces Johnny Depp. Eddie Redmayne returns as Newt Scamander with Katerine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, and Dan Fogler also back for the third installment.

Wizarding World has a brief synopsis for the film, which reads:

Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?
