We’ve been hearing for a while now that another Exorcist film has been in the works and now we know a bit more about what to expect. Per Deadline, a three-film franchise continuation is on the way with original star Ellen Burstyn reprising her role. The deal between Peacock, Blumhouse, and Morgan Creek is reportedly worth north of $400 million. The first film, to be directed by Halloween‘s David Gordon Green, will star Leslie Odom Jr. “as the father of a possessed child who seeks out the aid of Burstyn’s Exorcist character Chris MacNeil, mother of the possessed Regan MacNeil (played in the original 1973 film by Linda Blair).” The first film is slated to hit theaters on October 13th, 2023 with the others potentially heading to Peacock.
