Review: SHORT – Dirty Little Secret (Tribeca 2021)

SHORT: DIRTY LITTLE SECRET (TRIBECA)

Animated in the style of moving chalk, Dirty Little Secret is a short yet weighty film with memorable visuals and a striking message. Focusing on the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921, Dirty Little Secret depicts the horrors of the time as narrated by the unique song that guides the viewer through what is being depicted. Drawing connections between Tulsa and today’s social climate and the Black Lives Matter movement, the film uses what little time it takes up to highlight decades of racial injustice that continues on today. This is a short that hits you like a ton of bricks.
