We already knew have known that an animated Super Mario film is in the works, but according to Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, this may just be the start. The use of more IPs is “something we’re looking into,” Furukawa recently told Fast Company. The Super Mario film is currently in development with Illumination Studios and is a project that the original IP’s creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, is very involved in. The focus seems to be on meeting expectations and not detracting from the video games the characters and stories hail from. On this point, Furukawa said, “we must make sure that the results are true to the players’ experiences, and that they would never prevent Nintendo’s developers from making another unique game featuring the same characters.” So a Super Smash Bros. movie? How about Mario Kart? Animal Crossing? Star Fox? YOSHI? GIVE ME YOSHI!
