MoviePass Leftover Film ‘The Reckoning’ Picked Up By RLJ Entertainment, Shudder

Back when MoviePass, the failed theater subscription program that died, came back from the dead, and died again, was thinking that it would be able to produce films, the company was behind The Reckoning from director Neil Marshall (The Descent). A number of sex scandals and extortion allegations have shrouded the film in controversy since 2018, but it now has found new life thanks to RLJ Entertainment. The film will be released in some fashion in 2021 before heading to horror streamer Shudder.

THE RECKONING follows Grace Haverstock (Kirk), a young widow, haunted by the recent suicide of her husband Joseph (Anderson), who is falsely accused of being a witch by her jealous Landlord, Squire Pendleton (Steven Waddington, The Imitation Game), after she rejects his unwanted advances. Grace must endure physical persecution at the hands of England’s most ruthless witch-hunter Judge Moorcroft (Pertwee) and face her own inner demons as the Devil himself starts to work his way into her mind.
