Remember that wildly insane 2008 film about two stoners who witness a murder and go on the run, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco? Pineapple Express was a massive hit for both Sony and Rogen’s career, and a sequel was once in the works. However, appearing on The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM, Rogen revealed that they “probably wanted too much money” for the follow-up, and Sony wasn’t budging. Interestingly enough, when Sony’s emails were hacked back in 2014, one of the communications showed a back-and-forth between producer Judd Apatow and the studio negotiating the budget, which clearly resulted in a stalemate.
